“Andy and Lucas do not support any dictatorial regime or people who put children in prison and let a people go hungry. We are not going to go. And we are not breaking due to media pressure, as some news say,” says the musician in the video.

The official press accused this Tuesday of boycotting the festival those who have tried to convince some of the confirmed artists, such as those from Cadiz or Ubago himself, to cancel their presence at the festival, the Cuban version of the popular Italian contest, held in the homonymous city located in Liguria since 1951.

Lucas has defended his team, whom he considers misinformed about the organization of the event, but claims that they will not be on the island, while promoting the concert that the duo will perform this February in Miami.

González asks ironically for the support of the Miami public and adds that he hopes not to have a scare at the event. “Those from Cuba are not going to send an undercover agent to me and shoot me twice.”

The artist, who claims to also speak on behalf of his partner, insists that they are not “going to cover patches.” “We are not in favor of any dictatorship, nor are we in favor of military regimes that have drowned the people,” he says, adding that we must have empathy with the peoples who suffer. “And in this case Cuba is.”
