Before a new year we usually make resolutions and projects aimed at being happy. But rarely do we delve into what happiness is, to differentiate it from fantasies or ephemeral and superficial enthusiasms. Many years ago I have been interested in the subject and I have explored it from psychology and philosophy. Among the best I have found is the Discourse on Happiness by Emile du Châtelet, born in Paris in 1706, a mathematician, physicist, and philosopher. (Editorial Chair).
