Total discontent in the province of Veraguas is what caused the installation of the dialogue table in the City of Knowledge.
And it is that after the president of the republic, Laurentino Cortizo, set up the dialogue table in Panama City, the groups agglutinated in the National Alliance for the United Peoples (ANADEPO) summoned him to rectify and present himself to the negotiations in Veraguas, where the first table was installed.
“First we want to make it clear to the President of the Republic: here you cannot be making fun of the people, we do not recognize the table that was installed in Panama, in the City of Knowledge, a table of me with myself. The legitimate table is the one that is here in Santiago de Veraguas,” said the director Luis Sánchez.
He stressed that in the meeting held with the commission sent by the government to Santiago no agreements were reached, since they insist on the proposal to freeze the price of fuel at $3.95 and they will not accept this.
“We declare ourselves in permanent session, we request a recess and tomorrow at 10:00 in the morning we will be here again so that they mature their proposal,” he specified.
He warned that for tomorrow’s meeting they hope that those who are going to negotiate will be “people with the capacity to resolve the situation.” “What happens from now on is the government’s responsibility and not ours; this is not our fault. We thought that today we were going to end this and that tomorrow we were going to end the strike; but no,” he said.
They denounced that in Veraguas personnel arrived without the ability to solve problems, while in the City of Knowledge, where there was no representation of the people, the entire cabinet was present.
“Who did they meet with? Yes, the whole town is in the streets; here we are all fighting every day; the active forces of the country are here in the province of Veraguas and in the interior of the Republic, this is where the forces are alive,” he said.
