“At this time, work is being done on viral isolation for definitive confirmation and proceeding to make the corresponding reports to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE, for its acronym in French) and to commercial partners,” the secretariat added in a statement.
The agency said that the impact on local chicken production by the outbreak is minimal.
Severe outbreaks of avian flu in the United States and France are reducing the world’s supply of eggs and driving up prices of this staple food, while the war in Ukraine disrupts shipments to Europe and the Middle East.
In the first fortnight of April, chicken was one of the main components that caused general inflation to reach levels of 7.72%.
