The National Assembly (AN) approved, by a qualified majority, the draft agreement to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution in the Republic of Nicaragua.
The AN agreed on the first point of the document read in the regular session this Thursday to extend the “most sincere congratulations to the Nicaraguan people and Government on the 44th anniversary of the Sandinista Popular Revolution, and at the same time reject the aggression that has been the victim of the US empire.”
Also, they agreed on the second point to exalt and recognize “the resistance of the Nicaraguan people to the imperial aggressions that are currently manifested in the so-called unilateral sanctions that are illegal and arbitrary and whose objective is to drown the people economically, to overthrow the Sandinista Popular Revolution.”
Deputy Edgar González highlighted that several Venezuelans participated in the reconstruction of Nicaragua after the victory of the Sandinistas against the dictator Anastasio Somoza.
“That led these (Venezuelan) people to fulfill a function of solidarity as they have always done, not only to walk but to be a soldier and fight, then they went to the part of accompanying the Nicaraguan reconstruction,” he stressed.
González, who lived and fought in Nicaragua in the early years of the Sandinista Revolution, recalled the entire period after the Contra war and the atrocities of the paramilitaries that were financed by the United States.
“Nicaragua at this moment is experiencing the same aggression that the Venezuelan people are experiencing, because it represents a different model from that hegemonic model that the Latin American bourgeoisie wants,” he stressed.
In the same order of ideas, legislator Juan Carlos Alemán assured that US imperialism “did not forgive” the government headed by Daniel Ortega for developing progressive actions for its people.
“Long live the Nicaraguan Revolution. We raise the flag of the self-determination of the peoples and we do not accept interference of any nature. The peoples have the right to write their history, to transform society, ”he stressed.
Special Law for Agricultural Workers
On the other hand, the full assembly The Second Discussion of the Special Law Project for Agricultural Workers continued. During the deliberations several articles of the standard were approved.
However, the parliamentarian José Gregorio Colmenares requested to postpone the discussion of the legal instrument for the next session of the AN on Tuesday, July 25, to “review and improve” the wording of the remaining articles. The deferral was unanimously approved.
