An average of 360 migrants enter Panama daily


To improve the care and condition of migrants in the country, they are in the process of building and improving the Migratory Reception Station of San Vicente, to house up to a total of 544 migrants.

A total of 26,000 migrants have entered Panama between January 1 and May 19, mainly through the community of Canaán Membrillo, province of Darién, with an average daily entry of approximately 360 migrants.

According to the National Migration Service, they have guaranteed the human rights of all people, without distinction, with special emphasis on the migrant population that enters Panamanian territory through the Darien jungle, mainly due to their vulnerability.

They highlighted that, in order to improve the care and condition of migrants in the country, they are in the process of building and improving the San Vicente Migratory Reception Station, to house up to a total of 544 migrants.

Migration assured that the authorization of two Temporary Migratory Reception Stations is also planned, which will allow to alleviate the management capacities of irregular migratory flows, during their transit through Panama, in terms of security and humanitarian assistance.
