President Andrés Manuel López Obrador proposed to the governor of Nuevo León, Samuel García, to reach an agreement with the industries established in the entity so that they reduce their excessive use of water and direct it to domestic consumption, this in order to combat the crisis that is facing especially in Monterey.

Yesterday morning, to an express question, he referred to the issue of the drought in that entity, to which he said that his administration would give tax incentives or that the state authorities exempt the charge for the use of the liquid so that the businessmen collaborate.

It is the first time so far in his six-year term that the federal president makes an approach on tax incentives aimed at large companies, given the need to resolve this crisis. Yes, there is a way out, if the businessmen help.

He emphasized that it is up to the state government to pay attention to the problem, for which he recommended reviewing which are the sectors of the industry with the greatest demand for water and reaching agreements.

“They know who are the ones who consume the most, they know it perfectly, if there are 10, if there are 20, if there are 30, 40, 50. Invite them to have a machaca for breakfast and tell them: ‘it’s your turn and it’s going to be like that, and always we have counted on your support’, and they already tell us (Federation) in what we help, and we cooperate”.

In the solution, he pointed out, there should be no politicking. “Everyone help, nothing like ‘I supported you for the campaign and you’re not going to touch me’; nothing about ‘you’re not giving me enough money or you haven’t complied with the agreements and you’re going to see what’s going to happen and how it’s going to go’”.

He ruled out that the concessions will be reviewed or sanctions will be imposed, since it is a temporary crisis; although, he remarked, medium and long-term strategies must be considered.

Over the weekend, in a video, the state president assured that New Zealanders we are the ones who produce the most wool, the ones who pay the most taxes for the country, in addition to being the first in solidarity when there is a crisis due to a natural disaster; so he lamented that now, given the drought in the state, they don’t send a fucking pantry, no one raises their hand. Although he limited that in his entity we don’t occupy them, because here we do get the water and the money and the pride out from under the stones.

López Obrador recalled that the federal administration has supported Nuevo León with an investment for the Libertad dam to supply water to Monterrey and the metropolitan area, and in the midst of this crisis, an official from the National Water Commission collaborates with the local authority to manage it.

The governor is doing what he can, but more imagination and talent and experience are needed. Not from the governor, eh!, he has imagination, he has talent, he has experience, but from all sectors in the state.

He affirmed that to balance their work, companies, such as breweries, that support the reduction in their water consumption and lower their production in Nuevo León, could increase it in plants that they have in other entities where there is no water shortage.
