President Andrés Manuel López Obrador congratulated the women who fight for the just cause of opposing violence and femicide, and on Tuesday they attended the demonstrations for International Women’s Day. They passed in peace throughout the country
he replied. In his morning conference he reiterated that everything ended in holy peace
. He recognized the policewomen and the members of the Navy who remained as a dissuasive force outside the National Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
In addition to emphasizing that there was no repression
also pointed out that his opponents they did not like that the fence was put up
.
At the beginning of his conference, he spoke of the women’s rallies the day before: “yesterday the demonstrations for Women’s Day took place in peace throughout the country. There were some incidents. But the women who fight for this just cause that there is no mistreatment of women and much less femicides deserve and of course have every right to be congratulated.
It was a march, in the case of the city, numerous, orderly, peaceful. And this was replicated nationally. There was no repression, the right to demonstrate was guaranteed and there were, I repeat, no misfortunes to lament.
Thus, he once again addressed the position of his opponents, who “were waiting for the palace or the cathedral to burn down, but the necessary measures were taken, because we already know them, especially those who throw stones and hide their hands; I know you, cod, even if you come disguise (he joked in a good mood), and they were waiting for that.
They didn’t like that the fence was put up, but imagine if we don’t put it up. A small, minority group, not the majority of the women, went over the fence to try to knock it down with hammers, torches, and they couldn’t because it is tall and strong, but that prevented shock and misfortune.
At the beginning of his administration, López Obrador ordered the removal of the metal fences that were permanently installed outside the National Palace, during the government of Enrique Peña Nieto. However, as a result of the violent events carried out by groups of hooded women, he resorted to this method of protection again.
Yesterday he explained his reasons for placing the barriers: How can we not know that there are provocateurs and that we left the palace uncovered, they get in, they burn the doors, they get in! And the fifis, happy, happy, let those images travel the world, the palace and the cathedral on fire, because they are very irresponsible and very hypocritical and very corrupt
.
The president praised the responsible and combative attitude of women in opting for peace and not violence. I am sure that if it continues to act in this way, there will be more and more women protesting, with the certainty that there is no violence and there is no room for provocation and it will overflow forward, and it is good that this happens no violence
