On Thursday morning, August 1, Claudia Sheinbaum announced the appointment of Arturo Zaldívar as General Coordinator of Politics and Government and Leticia Ramírez as General Coordinator of Intergovernmental Affairs and Social Participation.
Zaldívar, Sheinbaum announced, will be responsible for following up on the constitutional reform initiatives sent by President López Obrador to the Legislative Branch, including the one that reforms the Judicial Branch.
“He will help us a lot because he will follow up on the constitutional reforms, particularly the reform of the Judiciary – obviously, with the autonomy that this implies – but follow-up is important because there are a series of essential areas that must be fulfilled from the Executive Branch,” said Sheinbaum.
In his morning press conference on Friday, the president highlighted the achievements of Arturo Zaldívar at the head of the Judiciary.
“When he was president of the Court, he did everything possible to clean the Judiciary of corruption, but it is a very advanced cancer that requires major intervention to be able to remove, sanitize and cleanse this sick body that is the Judiciary of this cancer that is corruption,” said the president.
