The president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the Republic of Panama (Fedecamaras), Alicia Jiménez, clarified this Wednesday, on Radio Panama, on the formation of a “national table” that includes all sectors, not only social, but union , productive and business.
This approach comes after a press conference held on Tuesday, in which the movement called The Great National Alliance for Panama was publicly consolidated, which is made up of 150 groups organized between the productive and business sectors.
Jiménez considered that this movement can be the north for everyone to unite, “and that single dialogue table must be inclusive and participatory; we are advocating that we all be at a table, the course of a country cannot be determined with a tiny group of people who consider that they have the great truth”.
He said that they are observing the problem that the government now has to implement what has been agreed at that table, without the presence of one of the important parties. “Days after the decrees have been implemented, what is offered on the table is still not firm, that means that the table is definitely incomplete,” he remarked.
In the opinion of the Great National Alliance for Panama, the main issues to deal with is a national agreement to generate immediate employment.
“As much as the price of the basic food basket, gasoline, electricity decreases, if you don’t have work to face until the minimum prices are achieved, then we are left with the same problem. The informal economy of informal employment is growing and the basic problem is the generation of employment,” said Jiménez.
