Until next February 19, a Prevention Notice for significant waves is in force, issued by the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC). This advisory will extend to the Caribbean slope.
SINAPROC highlighted that the maritime areas that are under warning are the Western Caribbean: in the province of Bocas del Toro, Ngabe Buglé region where waves between 1.5 and 2.5 meters high will be recorded.
Also in the Central Caribbean, north of Veraguas and the Abajo de Colón coast with waves between 1.5 and 2.3 meters high.
The alert for the Eastern Caribbean in the Costa Arriba de Colón and Guna Yal region, registering waves between 1.7 meters and 3.2 meters high.
According to the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA), accelerated winds are maintained, increasing the height of the waves and the record of choppy seas.
SINAPROC advises bathers and artisanal vessels to be careful in these maritime conditions.
