Alejo Campos from Crime Stoppers: ‘There is 70% of information that people do not share or report to the authorities’

In recent days, the Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, revealed the launch of the “Crime Stoppers” platform, so that citizens make their anonymous complaints and follow up.

Alejo Campos, from “Crime Stoppers”, explained that this is a platform for anonymous denunciations at an international level, which is being adapted to the needs of the countries.

He stressed that the app arises through the need that the Ministry of Security has so that the population in Panama, if they have any type of information about possible corruption cases, for example, share it.

“The fear of reporting is always there. Our global statistics speak of 70% of information that people do not share with the authorities and this happens all over the world”, said Campos.

He added that this year the second phase of the program will be launched, which consists of a call center and will also be anonymous, free and confidential.
