Public health operations are carried out with the objective that establishments of sanitary interest comply with the hygiene and biosafety measures established by the Ministry of Health.
For this, a team made up of environmental sanitation, food control and veterinary surveillance and personnel from the Alcalde Díaz health center of the North Panama Health Region, carry out these operations daily, including weekends, to guarantee that the measures are met. sanitary
However, some businesses and food outlets or independent persons (street vendors) from the townships of Alcalde Díaz, Las Cumbres and Ernesto Córdoba, fail to comply with or evade the responsibility established by the Minsa, and this Center is responsible for sanctioning .
Cindy Wilson, medical director of the Alcalde Díaz Health Center, urges independent people and owners of establishments of health interest to comply with sanitary measures so that they do not incur fines or closures of premises.
For the months of June to September 2022, the Center has imposed fines in the order of B/19,875.00. equivalent to an inspection of 108 establishments that have been fined by the departments of environmental sanitation (for not carrying signs of the decrees of no smoking, or those of not selling liquor to minors or for the sale of contraband cigarettes or retail or for the sale of tobacco products) among others.
In the same way, the Health Center penalizes for not maintaining sanitary controls on food, or for not carrying the proper health or food handlers cards, or for working with falsified cards, for working in unsanitary places or not having biosecurity measures (mask, alcohol gel) and other shortcomings
Dr. Wilson indicated that health surveillance will continue every month of the year to contribute to the health of the population that comes to these establishments.
