President Alberto Fernandez will receive this Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, hayashi yoshimasawho arrived in Argentina as part of a tour that includes other nations, such as Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil.
Within the framework of the 125 years of bilateral diplomatic relations, Hayashi Yoshimasa will also “hold a meeting with Foreign Minister santiago cafiero to deepen both the bilateral agenda and that corresponding to the international spheres”, it was officially reported.
“Argentina is interested in continuing to work on the Strategic Association and analyze together the possibility of advancing towards a Global Strategic Association, as it maintains with Brazil and Mexico, bearing in mind common values, growing cooperation and the exchange of visions in matters of global agenda”, indicated the official communication of the Government.
The issues on the bilateral agenda to be addressed are related to “the cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy and satellite cooperation“.
In this sense, “there are projects being studied by the company INVAP with Japan, and meetings between our space agencies, and initial talks with the ARSAT company to explore the potential that exists for satellite cooperation,” it said.
In addition, it seeks “promote mutual trade and the development of investment projects, especially in the lithium, fertilizer and hydrogen sectors.”
Official sources indicated that “there is a large Nikkei community of approximately 65,000 citizens and descendants of Japanese in Argentina.”
They also highlighted that there is “a significant recovery in bilateral trade in goods in 2021, which amounted to USD 1,862 million, reaching the highest level in the last six years and representing a year-on-year increase of almost 79%. But for Argentina it is important to give a better balance to it, for which it is essential to increase and diversify exports”.
They also stressed that “the Argentine Republic appreciates Japan’s support for the demand for the resumption of bilateral negotiations between our country and the United Kingdom for a negotiated and peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute related to the Malvinas Question.”
