Agreement signed to strengthen logistics of the food cold chain in the DR

The Association of Shipowners of the Dominican Republic (ANRD), Cold Chain Alliance (Gcca), Institute of the World Food Logistics Organizations for Latin America (WFLO Latam) and the Dominican Association of Logistics Centers and Operators (Asologic) signed an agreement to strengthen the logistics processes involved in the cold chain of supply, maintenance and preservation of the safety of perishable products.

The alliance is part of the commitment of the signatory institutions to increase the export safety of agricultural products from the Dominican Republic and improve the logistics of the supply chain for perishable products.

They indicated that through these initiatives they seek to promote best practices for the cold culture in the country, from agricultural production, handling, storage, processing, to the optimization of distribution channels, insertion, placement and commercialization, both in the markets local as well as international.

TEddy Heinsenpresident of the ANRD, said that currently in the country there are a large number of government entities and companies with certifications of local and international recognition, which facilitate and make trade agile, safe and reliable.

“In order to maintain and expand the country’s presence in international markets, it is necessary to maintain the safety of the production, conservation and adequate distribution channels of our perishable products,” said Heinsen.

They highlighted the importance of strengthening knowledge of agricultural techniques, instruments and processes for the conservation and maintenance of the safety of perishable products that are marketed in the country.

Likewise, they stated that in the Dominican Republic there are legal structures and there is sufficient logistics capacity for controlled temperature storage, ports, airports, good communication routes and efficient telephone and electronic communication systems, which continue to position the country as a Logistics Hub. regional.
