Registrations

To register, it is necessary to inform the title or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (CPF), the full name, the date of birth and the names of the parents. Once this is done, the interested party may be nominated to participate in the elections as a voluntary polling station by the responsible electoral judge, who follows criteria defined by law.

Another option for interested parties is to contact the electoral registry where they vote.

“There is no deadline for registration, as it can be done permanently. But, as the deadline for communicating the call of the Electoral Justice for this year’s elections runs until August 3, this date ends up being a time frame to work on the next elections “, informed the TSE.

Convocation

Whoever is summoned for electoral work receives an official communication from the Electoral Court (letter of summons), either physically or in electronic format by e-mail or by Whatsapp or physically. The form is up to each Regional Electoral Court in the states and the Federal District.

According to the TSE, in case of impossibility to participate, the summoned party has a maximum period of five days, counting from the receipt of the summons, to present the reasons for their impediment. The request for exemption must be sent to the judge of the electoral zone in which the summoned person is registered, with proof of the impossibility of working. The request will be evaluated by the judge, who may or may not accept the justification.

In case of non-attendance without just cause presented to the electoral judge up to 30 days after the election, the polling station will pay a fine. If the defaulter is a public servant, the penalty will be suspension of up to 15 days. If the table is prevented from functioning by the non-attendance of the secretary, the penalties will be applied in double.

Benefits for the clerk

Working as a table clerk can count as additional hours in university courses (check with your state’s TRE); in the event of a tie in a public tender, you may have an advantage to break the tie (if provided for in the public notice); On election day, he/she receives a meal allowance in the maximum amount of R$ 45.00 (Portaria TSE nº 399, of April 27, 2002; and is entitled to two days off for each day worked without losing the salary It is important to point out that the days off must be negotiated with the company, body or institution where the polling station worked at the time of the election.

Training

Those selected are trained through a distance learning platform (EaD) or through the Mesário application. In the training, future employees will be informed about the voting flow, procedures to be adopted in the polling station and solutions to any problems. They will also receive a check list start of work and end of polling day. Some electoral offices may also offer face-to-face training.
