Madrid Spain.- Cuban independent journalist Cynthia de la Cantera Toranzo resigned from continuing to practice her profession due to constant threats from the Cuban regime.

In these interrogations, they demanded guarantees of her resignation from journalism, to which she replied that she has no guarantees to offer “in a government system where her profession is not legally recognized.”

“It was a decision that I had to make in a matter of a few minutes and, I repeat, under threat,” says the journalist.

“I’m just saying, and I trust, `the night will not last forever,'” he concluded, citing the opponent assassinated by the Oswaldo Payá regime.

Last May, De la Cantera offered testimony to CubaNet and to other independent media, where he denounced that since 2020 he had been the victim of systematic harassment by various elements of the political police.
