The Ministry of Agriculture, preceded by Juan José Bahillo, reported that the authorities of Senasica (Mexico’s health agency) gave the green light to 22 processing plants to export meat of cattle to the northern Latin American country.
The official stated that “promoting exports, expanding the destinations for our meatsis the central axis of our policy”, and also pointed out about the product that “the only way to grow is to produce more and generate new markets”, in accordance with the method suggested by the director of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), Miguel Pesce.
Bahillo stressed that “the coordinated work between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Senasa, in order to carry out the strategy set by the Ministry of Economy to open more and more markets for foods produced by the country”, is bearing fruit. After a negotiation process started eight years ago, it will be possible to export meat cattle to Mexico.
Likewise, Rodolfo Acerbi, vice president of Senasa (state health agency) explained: “it is a joint effort of the different Senasa administrations: this process began more than eight years ago, and the team has maintained coherence in the health issue”. ”Hopefully this can be replicated in other negotiations. This is how a true health policy extended over time is made,” he concluded.

Last July, from Senasica they carried out an audit where the inspectors of the health entity verified that Senasa’s control system in Argentina complies with the highest sanitary and food safety standards, as required by the Mexican government.
Also, the Mexican auditors valued the work of Senasa and highlighted the transparency of the companies as well as of the Argentine body. All this culminated in Mexico’s approval of importing Argentine beef.
