The Dominican Academy of Political Sciences (ADCP) delivered this Wednesday a recognition to the rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD)Dr. Emma Polanco Melo for her support of scientific research projects.
The distinction was delivered by Dr. Urías Espaillat, president of the Dominican Academy of Political Sciences (ADCP), along with other directors of the entity who were present at the activity, held in the Orlando Martínez room at the headquarters of the Dominican College of Journalists (COP).
Among the motivations of the ADCP, pTo recognize the university official for having guaranteed the stability and permanent training of teachers, in the most difficult times caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“The university ands and it will continue to be my passion, from the first day we have said yes to everything related to the advancement and consolidation of this country’s academy”, expressed Polanco Melo when thanking the ADCP.
The first woman rector of the First University of America described as an invaluable gesture, the plaque received from the hands of the ADECP board that brings together political science professionals.
The rector Emma Polanco stressed, at the moment of receiving the distinction, his commitment to continue promotinguntil the last day of his management, the transformations required in the house of higher studies.
On his side, he president of the ADCP He highlighted that, despite the adversities caused by the pandemic, Polanco Melo knew how to design and execute an effective strategy that allowed keeping the doors of knowledge open, through the virtual teaching modality.
Espaillat pointed out that, in response to the difficulties arising from the coronavirus, part of the imprint of the university official is reflected in the extraordinary number of sections (more than 30,000), of subjects taught in 13,400 virtual classrooms created during the pandemic, with the purpose to guarantee teaching to more than 200,000 students of the Primate of America. An unprecedented event, both in the country and in the region.

In the actaccompanied the rector Polanco Melo, among other university officials, the vice-chancellors of Extension and Teaching, Antonio Medina and Alejandro Ozuna, respectively.
Directors of the ADCP were also present, led by its president, Urías Espaillat; the vice president Rolando Forestieri, the secretary David La Hoz, the treasurer Tony Tejada and the academic director, Francisco Peña.

The Dominican Association of Political Sciences (ADCP), a non-profit entity, made up of academics and collaborators, was founded on August 24, 2009 and incorporated through resolution No. 0030, of June 4, 2010.
The ADCP, based in the National District, has as objective to study, analyze, promote, encourage and develop the study and the understanding from a holistic view of Dominican society, its link with the global political and transactional universe.
