The Executive Secretariat of the PIT-CNT issued a statement on the bill approved by Parliament in which the entry of elite troops of the United States Army into Uruguayan territory is authorized, with the aim of instructing the military of our country.

Statement

Here is the statement from the trade union center:

In knowledge of the recent unanimous approval of the National Parliament of a Law that enables the entry of elite US Army troops into national territory, the Executive Secretariat of the PIT-CNT states:

1-Your emphatic rejection to the presence of the elite command of the US Armed Forces in our country.

military maneuvers with foreign forces accustomed to waging war and destruction throughout the world are not a good sign for Uruguay’s international image.

The US has historically developed a violent and warmongering practice throughout the world as a way of imposing their economic and political interests. Latin America and our country have been the object of this imperialist policy, which has not ceased over time, and which represents a risk to world peace and harmony among the peoples of the planet.

To date, the government of that country he hasn’t even apologized for his support for the Uruguayan civic-military dictatorship and the damage it caused to the human rights and public freedoms of the Uruguayan people.

For the aforementioned reasons, the PIT-CNT expresses its enormous concern by the parliamentary consensus that gave the green light to the interference of this US military command in national territory.
