In October, the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights will launch a national campaign to combat sexual violence against children and adolescents on the internet. In an interview with the program The Voice of BrazilMinister Cristiane Britto said that Brazil is the country that most exports child pornography to the world.
“[São] scenes, videos and photos of children being sexually abused on the internet. The internet is the most harmful environment for our children today”, said the minister.
According to her, Brazil is part of a working group that fights sexual exploitation on the internet. “We need to involve the family. Parents need to understand that they should, yes, control what their children access on the internet. What are your kids doing? Especially between 10:00 pm and 6:00 am, which research indicates is the time when, mainly, teenagers are accessing inappropriate content and where they are being co-opted by these criminal networks”.
The minister explained that the campaign will be broadcast on social networks and on television and will target families.
