The organizers of the 52nd edition of the San Javier Fest. Theater, Music and Dance in Murcia, confirmed the event, which will take place from August 5 to 25. It will present a diverse program, they said, in the Auditorium of the Almansa park in San Javier, a small municipality in the northern area of the Mar Menor.
The festival begins tomorrow, Friday, with the Cuban contemporary dance company Acosta Danza. The Creole dancer Carlos Acosta, well known in Spain, especially after the film Yuliby Iciar Bollaín, presents on this occasion the piece Tocororo, an autobiographical show with which he began as a choreographer.
Acosta updates the ballet, which premiered in 2003 at the Alicia Alonso Grand Theater in Havana, and which is named after the Cuban national bird.
Tocororowhich had notable success in London, is built on a simile between the bird that does not survive in captivity and the protagonist of the ballet, a humble young man who arrives in the city looking for new horizons and facing multiple obstacles.
