On January 14 and 15, the Company Acosta Dancedirected by the first dancer Carlos Acosta, arrives at the Martí Theater with the show “Raíces”.
“Raíces” is made up of choreographies that represent the evolution of the Company, according to Lester Vila, press director for that group, quoted by the Cuban News Agency.
The show will begin with the work “Portal” by the Spanish choreographer Juanjo Arqués, followed by “Sidi” by Larbi Cherkaoui.
Also part of the show is the premiere of “Performance”, by the American Micaela Taylor. The piece manages to “combine” contemporary dance and hip hop.
The piece “Us” performed by the duo Beatriz García / Raúl Reinoso deals with the lights and shadows in a love relationship and finally they opted for “There is nothing around” by the Spanish dancer, choreographer and director Goyo Montero, with which Acosta Danza performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2019, according to the report.
As of Tuesday, January 10, tickets will be sold at the Martí Theater box office, located on Dragones street between Prado and Zulueta streets in the capital’s historic center.
For seven years, Acosta Danza has been recognized as one of the best groups in the country.
The Company, backed by the prestige of the world famous dancer, also stands out for the intensity of its members on the scene, the permanent desire to renew themselves and remain open to new ideas and proposals.
They have opted to combine folk dance with contemporary dance, for example, and include in their proposals themes from the traditional Latin American songbook in the voice of Chavela Vargas, Vinicius de Moraes or Joaquín Sabina.

Acosta Danza also hosts the training of young dance and ballet students from different Cuban provinces.
In 2022, the young Yasser Domínguez deserved the Ramiro Guerra Award, awarded by the Hermanos Saíz Association in the category of Best Male Contemporary Dance Performer.
