The existence, within the bench of People’s Action (AP), from a group called ‘Los Niños’ – known for their “obedience” to the president peter castle and its alleged participation in a corrupt mafia that operates in the Ministry of Transport and Communications – has caused some political groups to have reservations about the participation of the lampa party in the next Board of Directors of Congress, which this first year was under the leadership precisely from an action-populist: María del Carmen Alva.
Within the framework of the still incipient negotiations, the possibility that Fuerza Popular aspires to a vice-presidency and/or that the range is opened to welcome other stores has been put on the table. That would imply a recomposition of the distribution of the vice-presidencies that are currently in the hands of Alianza Para el Progreso, Podemos and Avanza País.
As will be recalled, by virtue of a verbal agreement dating from mid-2021 and which was assumed by AP, Fuerza Popular, Avanza País, Podemos and APP, the latter bloc would be responsible for presiding over Parliament in this second legislative year. “Be careful, the agreement was for the rotation of the presidency, it was not said if in the case of the vice presidencies the same or others will go, that will be decided by the spokesmen,” the general secretary of Fuerza Popular told Peru21 days ago. For the alternate spokesman for Popular Action (AP), José Arriola, the issue does not admit discussion. “If Fuerza Popular has that position, we disagree with it. Do they want to prevail their majority within the minorities? Well, for the election of the Table, what matters, what counts are the votes, and if they believe that with their 24 votes they will be able to influence or impose themselves in a Table, they are quite wrong, ”he said, disgruntled.
Does AP want, then, to maintain its presence on the Board of Directors? “Of course, because one of the things in that agreement was that AP belonged to the Table. There have been voices out there that say that since AP already had the presidency, he no longer has any position; then it would be the same with Camones and APP that already had the first vice presidency”, he noted.
In this context, he also anticipated his opposition to the possible inclusion of a representative of the Magisterial Bloc (BP) in the opposition list. “They, Democratic Peru, Free Peru, Together for Peru, respond to the ruling party, We are Peru, I do not know why sometimes they are made of lime and other times of sand, they do not have a defined position, but if BM aspires to integrate the Table, with they could not go”, he stated categorically and did not rule out the possibility of promoting a third list.
AGREEMENT ON EVALUATION
Arriola also questioned what was referred to giving the presidency to APP. The reason? The ongoing fiscal investigation into the plagiarism of President Pedro Castillo’s thesis, whose alleged legality was defended by the César Vallejo University, owned by the leader of APP, and the description of AP as a “criminal gang” by Congresswoman Lady Camones.
Along these lines, the legislator anticipated Peru21 that his bloc “will reassess the agreement because – he said – there is no formal commitment”. “In July of last year the scenario was one, now it is another; last year there were nine benches, now there are twelve”, she pointed out.
On the other hand, from Fuerza Popular, congresswoman Vivian Olivos reaffirmed that her caucus will respect the agreement and support the candidate for the presidency who proposes APP. “We are respectful of the pacts, I hope it is Gladys Echaíz (the candidate), if it is another member, welcome, we will be here to support it,” he said, while urging César Acuña to appoint a good candidate “because the country you need someone who gives confidence, is a concerter and convenes everyone”.

Among the names that are being considered in APP are Eduardo Salhuana, about whom there would be some objections for his condescending position with the Government of Pedro Castillo, and Lady Camones, who has been vetoed by AP after the leak of an audio.
