Abinader predicts economic growth in the DR in 2023

President Luis Abinader He predicted a year of growth for the Dominican Republic at an economic level, which he affirms will surpass other countries in the region, which he attributes to austerity policies and transparent management of state resources.

Abinader spoke in the Puerto Plata province this Monday morning, within the framework of the remodeling of the Community Technology Center of the Imbert municipality.

“As a country we will continue to advance and improve the quality of life of Dominicans. As all international economic indicators specify, we were one of those that grew the most in 2022 and in 2023 we will continue like this,” said Abinader.

It is recalled that in December, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Cepal) reported that by 2023 the economy of the Dominican Republic will grow 4.6%, meaning a slight decrease from the 4.7% it had projected last October. However, it will be among the leaders of the region, despite the reduction.

About technology centers

The president highlighted the importance that the government gives to young people, who understand better opportunities with inaugurations such as technology centers.

“There are days when up to five cruise ships arrive in Puerto Plata, the free zones are also growing… This is breaking the cycle of poverty, education, opportunities for companies, social peace, unity of criteria and so we are moving forward, it is a coherent policy,” said the president.

“Now we only have 11 of more than 100 technological centers left that we are remodeling and leaving in operation, the 14/24 program is designed for ninis, who neither worked nor studied, these young people will now have to call them the Sisi, if they study and if they work,” said the president.

On the inauguration of the remodeling of the Imbert Community Technology Center, the youth of the Puerto Plata municipality will be able to train in technical careers, such as computer science, communication, among others.

Opportunity Program 14/24

Isidro Torres, director of the Community Centers, highlighted the importance that the educational facility represents in the progress of youth. “This center had been abandoned since 2007, and we rescued it. In order to get trained, these young people had to travel to Santiago or Puerto Plata,” said the official.

The center has seven teaching rooms, with different educational programs, and in particular there is one that induces training in robotics.

Tony Peña Guaba, coordinator of the social policy office of the Presidency, indicated that this year they are scheduled to continue with the inaugurations of this type of project.

“We are inaugurating program 101, of the 14/24 program, 25 provinces already have these facilities, 1,800 young people are going to graduate soon, and more than 5,000 are estimated this year, in various technical training that will now be able to work,” Guaba said. .

Nelson Rafael Núñez, from the San José Obrero parish, blessed the work.
