Emergency teams search for eleven missing on the southern Italian island of Ischia after a landslide that left at least one person dead and prompted the government to call a meeting to declare a state of emergency.
An avalanche of mud and debris, triggered by heavy rains, devastated the small town of Casamicciola Terme, in the north of the island of Ischia, off the coast of Naples on Saturday morning.

Until now, The mudslide caused one fatality, 11 missing, four injured, some 15 houses destroyed and some 167 displaced; as reported by the prefect of Naples, Claudio Palomba, at the end of the meeting of the Rescue Coordination Center, the ANSA and AFP news agencies reported.
According to the rescue teams, the missing must be members of two families and there must be at least 2 minors (one newborn) and an elderly woman.
The only confirmed fatality so far is Eleonora Sirabella31, who lived with his partner, still missing, in the Rarone area, one of the most affected by the mud that suddenly erupted downhill to the sea.
Rescuers worked through the night on Saturday in Casamicciola hoping to find those missing from the avalanche that leveled cars and houses, invaded neighborhoods and destroyed homes or left them inaccessible, but the strong wind blowing on the island makes operations difficult. they continued in any way, as reported by the Italian news agency ANSA.
