Six dead migrants, three of them minors, and 11 injured was the balance left by the overturning of a bus on the federal highway of Puebla, in Mexico, which occurred on the night of Saturday, August 13. Just the day the accident occurred, the National Migration Institute (INM) of Mexico reported on its Twitter account that 688 migrants were located in the state of Puebla, of which 567 were found in a hotel car and 121 in a bus. traveling on a local highway. In addition, in the northern state of Coahuila, immigration authorities and state police found 127 Nicaraguans traveling overcrowded in a truck.

The reinforcement of measures to contain illegal migration has been accompanied by a greater deployment of military and state security forces and the imposition of visas that, according to several NGOs, including Humans Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have forced migrants to take much more dangerous routes and expose themselves to greater risks.

Just on August 10, the bodies of the 15 Venezuelans who died in a traffic accident on July 27 in Nicaragua while crossing the country in their attempt to reach the United States were handed over to the Venezuelan government. Passing through the Central American country, departing from the San Andrés Island of Colombia, has become the alternative that the compatriots take to avoid crossing the Darién jungle.
