A truck from the Transcupet company had a traffic accident this Sunday on the Vía Blanca, near the Canasí bridge, Mayabeque province. According to Cubadebatethe tank vehicle with license plate B231121 “It was transporting solvent naphtha for industrial use.”
The accident caused no loss of human life. Governor Mario Sabines Lorenzo, of the province of Matanzas, indicated that “the event is not linked to what is happening in the industrial zone” of that city; however, the specific reasons for the transfer of the fuel were not disclosed, nor were the reasons of the casualty.
The Vía Blanca is a vital connection for entering the Cuban capital, any interruption in one of its paths can significantly hinder the access of vehicles to the Cuban capital, especially trucks with agricultural products to supply the city’s undermined markets.
Users on social networks indicated that a truck tire exploded and that was what caused the rollover. A user, who used Edmundo Dantés Junior as a pseudonym, commented in the informative note of Cubadebate that the vehicle was “guarded by the police”, in addition to specifying that “gasoline is a very volatile product” and that after the rollover “it caught fire”.
The traffic mishap generated questions among users on social networks who see the limitations to combat the fire that started in B ace of Supertankers of Matanzason August 5.
Other Internet users questioned the lack of necessary implements to contain a fire and the risk posed to firefighters trying to mitigate the flames. “This accident could be fatal and can still be fatal, look how they ‘control’ the fire,” warned Mayra Egoavi in reference to the shared material. “They can’t be light enough to rejoice because ‘happily’ there were no human losses.”
Adriana Hernández Regueiro, originally from Havana, stated: “After 17 firefighters disappeared, they accepted technical advice from the United States” and added, “these people put the dead ahead and the patch behind, they have no shame. With each action they only show that they have no idea what they are doing or the means for anything.”
