A crew member from the Fray Bentos Port Prefecture was arrested by the Departmental Anti-Drug Brigade this Friday for selling drugs. Cocaine was found in the sailor’s house and other objects that “evidenced the operation and existence of a drug outlet,” says the official statement from the The national army.
The offender “had tested positive for cocaine, which is why a file was initiated to manage his withdrawal“, explains the official statement.
The sailor lives in the J3 neighborhood of the city of Fray Bentos, in the department of Río Negro, and there approximately 48 grams of cocaine“equivalent to 250 doses, with an approximate value of $75,000 Uruguayan pesos,” reported the Navy.
In addition, the Anti-drug Brigade managed to seize a BB gunfour precision digital scales, two video surveillance cameras with motion sensors and cash, both in national and foreign currency.
The crew member is detained in the First Section of this city and next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. will have a court hearing.
