Threats, suspicions of corruption, various controversies … Cuauhtémoc White (49 years old), one of the greatest soccer players in the history of Mexico and today the governor of Morelos, is once again in the spotlight. The reason? A photo with some alleged drug traffickers has been published.
After a long and controversial vacation in Brazil, where he visited the Maracanã stadium, the Mexican press published an undated photo of Blanco holding the arm of three alleged Mexican drug traffickers (one of whom has already been shot).
“I do not agree with criminals (…). I do not go to parties with criminals, even if they invite me,” defended Blanco. “I take photos with everyone because I am not rude. This is a dirty war,” he said. The day after the photo was published, he received anonymous threats assuring him, among other things, that he knew perfectly well the origin of the photo. “I am not afraid of anything,” the governor told the daily Milenio, denouncing an attempt to “destabilize” his regional government.
