A deceased person was the balance of a car accident occurred this Thursday in the central Cuban province of Ciego de Ávila.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the highway to Morón, in the section known as El Chillante, according to one information from the local station Groove Radius.
The incident occurred when the horse of an animal-drawn vehicle ran amok and invaded the opposite path where a jeep belonging to the Territory’s Electric Company was circulating. As a consequence, the 56-year-old driver of the vehicle lost his life, reports the media.
According to the report, in the first quarter of the current year more than 10 people have died in the province of Ciego de Ávila in traffic accidents, a figure higher than the previous year. Animal-drawn vehicles, the note specifies, are among the most involved in these events.
This accident joins other events of this type that have occurred in recent weeks on the Island, several of them with multiple victims.
According to official reports, most traffic accidents in Cuba are determined by the human factor, while only low percentages are due to technical problems. As for the causes, the main ones are usually linked to undue attention to vehicle control, disrespect for the right of way, violation of speed limits and driving under the influence of alcohol.
