“A call for Suyen”, the campaign that insists on a meeting between the political prisoner and her five-year-old son

Suyen Barahona: "I haven't been able to hear my son's laugh for a year"

Relatives of the political prisoner Suyen Barahona reiterate their complaint against the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, who continues to deny the opposition woman see or communicate with her five-year-old son, with whom she has had no contact since her arrest on June 13, 2021.

By means of the campaign “#ACallForSuyen”promoted by the relatives of Barahona, demand that the authorities of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance authorize the president of the Unión Democrática Renovadora (Unamos) to have a meeting with her little boy in jail.

The last time the boy saw his mother was when the police arrested the opponent at her home, since that day the Ortega regime has denied them any communication.

“It has been more than a year since (Suyen Barahona) was arrested and since then she has not been able to communicate with her little 5-year-old son. we ask #ACallForSuyen», demand their relatives.

During these 15 months, the authorities of El Nuevo Chipote have prevented the child’s letters and drawings from being delivered to his mother, despite the fact that the lawyer for the prisoner of conscience has filed appeals with the Managua Court of Appeals and none have been successful. answered.

César Dubois, Barahona’s husband, told Article 66 that as a family they have filed several legal petitions and on social networks demanding that “her right (of the opponent) to see our son be respected and that a letter, a drawing, a call, a video call be allowed. Let there be communication because that is the right of our son and also that of Suyen ».

Political prisoners Miguel Mora, Tamara Dávila, Miguel Mendoza, Félix Maradiaga, Juan Sebastián Chamorro and Róger Reyes also experience this same situation of forced separation with their sons and daughters. All of them have been denied the right to communicate by any means with their minor relatives.

The regime has only allowed Tamara Dávila and Miguel Mora to see their children. Both inmates were on a hunger strike demanding to communicate with their offspring in the face of the Ortega dictatorship’s refusal.
