Ministry of Health ensures that it guarantees medical care to migrants entering the country

Authorities from the National Border Service (Senafront), the Ministry of Health (Minsa), the National Migration Service, the National Secretariat for Children and Adolescents and the Family (Senniaf) and the Ministry of the Environment traveled to the community of Carreto, Guna Yala region , with the aim of addressing issues related to the transit of migrants in this area, access to health services and protection during their journey.

In this sense, the director of International Affairs and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Health, Thays Noriega, specified that the Minsa has implemented various mechanisms to strengthen health services at various points of entry for migrants to the country.

Regarding the community of Carreto in the Guna Yala region, he explained that this Thursday Senafront, headed by deputy director Luis Trejos, transferred 10 migrants of Venezuelan nationality, including 4 minors, to the Puerto Obaldía health center, to carry out medical evaluations. and ensure proper care.

During the tour of the Carreto community, the Ombudsman’s Office and International Organizations such as UNHCR, IOM, Unicef ​​also participated, where they reviewed the impact of migrant transit in this area.
