Madrid Spain.- The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC), US congressmen and the Cuban community in Miami have prepared an extensive program of activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the 11J anti-government protests in Cuba.
The day includes a press conference with the congressmen of Cuban origin María Elvira Salazar, Mario Díaz-Balart and Carlos Giménez; a forum for exile leaders at the Bahía Cochinos Museum; an artistic event at the Museum of the Cuban Diaspora with the participation of artists from the San Isidro Movement (MSI); the recitation of the rosary for Cuba that will be held in the hermitage of Caridad del Cobre; and a rally at the Versailles restaurant.
During the convocation actin charge of ARC, the organizers highlighted that the activities respond to the support and solidarity with the protesters in Cuba that was reflected a year ago in the slogan “if Cuba is on the street, Miami too.”
“We have to leave on Monday. We have to accompany our community in acts of support for those Cubans on the island who are struggling,” Silvia Iriondo, leader of the Mothers and Women Anti-Repression (MAR) for Cuba, said Thursday.
Similarly, Orlando Gutiérrez and Juan Carlos Bermúdez, also members of the Assembly of the Cuban Resistance, called on Miami residents to participate in at least one of the activities and to display Cuban flags around the city to honor “the brave men, women and children” who demonstrated on July 11.
Also this weekend cities like Rome, Paris, Madrid, Santiago de Chile, Montevideo, Las Vegas and Toronto will march for the first anniversary of 11J.
