Moses, the Mantis boy.

During his life, Moses had a great interest in learning about the world of insects. Many years ago he had a very serious accident which led to a severe depression. At that difficult stage of his recovery, he found a person who raised mantises. That reformed his goal, that his passion (Collecting and raising Mantis and other types of insects) would become a way of life. Photo: [email protected]

There are many types of Mantis in the world, of which its study would take us a lifetime. Studying and raising them is a way of life that Moisés and his group Team Peruvian Mantis lead. In the image we see a Hierodula Majuscula (from Australia), a very striking type of green Mantis. Photo: jorge.cerdan@photo.gec

Raising and collecting Mantis and other species of insects is a great relief, Moses tells me. For some people these animals are a disaster, because raising them is a hobby that requires a lot of curiosity and responsibility. Some paintings reflect that. Self-esteem for these animals that little by little are being valued. Photo: jorge.cerdan@photo.gec

The conservation of these species is a very fundamental factor in these times where predation by nature is extremely constant. Watching the different types of Mantis and other insects is a goal that Moses and his group set. Motivating other insect breeders to conserve these species, which may be the only survivors in this world, in the face of a global catastrophe.

Moisés has some tattoos that represent the meaning of his perseverance in all this time that he has been building his project. A mantis climbing a leaf means perseverance in these years. He trusted it, but he also remembers the words of encouragement from a special person to whom he feels very grateful and blessed. Photo: jorge.cerdan@photo.gec
