The National Institute of Migration (INM) reported yesterday rescue
143 migrants of Central American origin who, according to the agency, were crammed into the body of a torton-type truck that was circulating in the state of Oaxaca.
The identification of these people occurred at the edge of one in the morning on Monday, at the inspection point of the municipality of Huajuapan de León, the Institute said in a statement.
Federal immigration agents, with the support of the state highway police, stopped the cargo vehicle and during the routine review they heard voices in the back of it. Upon opening one of the doors, the INM detailed, the migrants were discovered, 141 from Guatemala and two from Nicaragua.
The agency added that the torton truck, the driver and his companion, both Mexicans, were at the disposal of the Attorney General of the Republic in the entity, so that possible crimes can be investigated.
