The vice president of Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD), Circe Almanzar, congratulated all the institutions that promoted the return of its resources to those affiliated with the National Social Security System, who for reasons of age or illness are not going to accumulate enough funds to opt for a pension.
He argued that the provision will allow a significant segment of the population to have financial liquidity at a time when the economy is going through a period of difficulties.
The decision, contained in Resolution 545-01 issued by the National Social Security Council (CNSS), chaired by the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel De Camps, establishes that those people who were on their way to turning 45 at the time If they start contributing to the retirement model in force in the country, or who have a terminal illness, they can receive all the money they accumulated in the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP).
“I think it was a good decision made and evidence that when there is a good public-private dialogue, decisions can be made that benefit the country and that has been very positive. We congratulate the Minister of Labor for his efforts and the actors of the system that promoted this decision”, pointed out the business leader.
In addition to promoting the adoption of this measure, the AFPs immediately welcomed Resolution 545-01, considering that it benefits the Dominican working class.
With this decision, more than 7 billion pesos may be received by some 25,000 citizens who meet the requirements established in the aforementioned document, according to the president of the CNSS, at the time of making the announcement on June 15.
Luis Miguel De Camps stressed that the old complementary regulations (resolution 350-02 of 2014) have made the disbursement request process complex and lengthy, a situation that will improve in the future.
“This problem is not new, this problem is years old, but now those claims have been addressed, and with this resolution it will be helping people to access their pensions in advance,” he said.
