Cuba eliminated from the Beach Volleyball World Cup (women)

The female duo of Leila Martínez-Ledianny Echeverría was today eliminated from the Beach Volleyball World Championship, which will conclude on the 19th in Rome, Italy.

The Cubans needed that victory to stay in the tournament, but lost 1-2 to the Swiss duo of Bobner and Vergé-Dépré F.

It was a close match, especially in the third and final set. They fell in the first quarter 16-21 and won the second 21-13, but in the third they lost 12-15.

In the men’s category, the Noslen Díaz-Jorge Luis Alayo duo advanced directly from Monday to the round of the best 32 of the tournament that begins this Wednesday with the aim of following the 16.

Diaz and Alayo finished second in the J bracket, tied with a duo from Germany, with five points, two won and one lost.

The Cubans will face tomorrow the duo of Paolo Nicolai-Cottafava S. from Italy.
