Santo Domingo.- There is a saying that says “When you give, you receive” either for good or bad; It is a short phrase but it contains a great reality that many have had to live, as is the case of a young woman who studied to teach others without imagining that her students would be her teachers.
Paula Dolis Torres began teaching in 1997 when she was just coming of age; 25 years have passed and today she has a smile on her lips, that through time her students have taught them how to live.
“The most pleasant thing I have learned in this career is coexistence with others, the love that can be had towards children, young people and adolescents,” he says.

She narrates that what motivated her to study teaching at the Federico Henríquez y Carvajal University was the interest in helping those who needed to learn, so that society would have better human beings from the inside out.
So she became convinced that the only way she was going to make it was by outdoing herself; she left her job as a cashier in a car parts store and before finishing her degree she began to teach.
He started at the Rosa de Sarón school with 15 students in basic level courses to whom he taught all subjects, then in secondary school, there he instructed students with the subjects Spanish Language and Artistic Education.
However, what began with the sole intention of collaborating with the education of others, became a challenge, as the number of assigned subjects and classrooms increased, as did her responsibilities as a teacher.

Far from dedicating himself to his work only in the classroom as some consider, Torres realized that the work of a teacher goes further.
In planning for the development of educational topics in class, he learned to create engaging strategies for students to ensure their interest in studies.
He sacrificed his family time to figure out why some of his students understood less than others.
Also, in the classroom she learned to be a measurer of conflicts between parents and students.
Torres relates that each of her students taught them to cultivate both ethical and moral values, as she learned to be patient, fair and responsible with them, despite their age and any physical or mental condition.
For this reason, after 25 years of practice, Paula Torres describes teaching as the race of love and assures with an illuminated face, that the greatest satisfaction of a teacher is to see her students fulfill their dreams.
“I believe that there is no greater prize than seeing them progress, seeing them develop, observing when they reach their goals and achievements, it is very satisfying when one can go to a full-term graduation, see them with joy and desire to continue forward”, said the educator.
Torres encourages the new generation of students to pursue their dreams and not limit themselves by encountering obstacles along the way, “because the best thing in life is to be rich in knowledge to be useful in society.”
Although her main vocation is to impart the bread of education, Torres continued to educate herself, for which she is also a nurse and pastry chef.
What has served as a reference for his three children, especially his eldest daughter Charlyn Ramírez Torrres who studies medicine at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.
