More than two decades after being part of this film, he revealed the scene that earned him his role.

“The Rose Seller” It is one of the most recognized Colombian films worldwide. It was shot 25 years ago in the popular neighborhoods and communes of Medellín under the direction of Víctor Gaviria.
The actors chosen for this production were natural and mostly children who recreated the hard story of how adolescents survive and the dangers they were exposed to in the 90’s in the capital of Antioquia, where many fell into begging, prostitution and the drug.

One of those actresses who was part of this film was Mileider Gil, who played the role of “Andrea”, a rebellious girl who ran away from home at the age of 10.
“I mecatié her in little things”, is one of the phrases that Colombians remember the most about that little natural actress who is now 35 years old.
In an interview with “Medallo City”, Gil recalled those moments when he recorded this film in 1988 in the company of Lady Tabares (Mónica), Giovanni Quiroz (El Zarco) and Diana Murillo (Cachetona) and other characters.
One of those memories she has of this film nominated for a prize for best foreign film at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998, is precisely how she won her role as “Andrea”.
Gil revealed that the scene of the call in which he reproaches his mother for having hit him: “There I don’t just tell her that I’m fine, she also insulted her,” recalled Mileider, who today has a 9-year-old son.
She added that Víctor Gaviria, director of the film, was looking for the natural actors who would be part of the film and it was at the boarding school where she found them: «At the boarding school I was going to complete 2 years. Víctor arrived and Lady, Yudy and la Cachetona left from there. He came looking for the girls he needed for the film ».
Finally, he confessed that having recorded this film is one of the most important things in his life:
«I feel very happy because The Seller of Roses is a film that has passed through many generations and many people do not forget it. Although we thought that the film was going to be something temporary, it really wasn’t,” she concluded.
