The superior court of Ibagué ordered this Saturday, June 4, the house arrest of the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, for contempt regarding a case corresponding to a national park.
According to the court’s decision, Duque did not comply with sentence STI.10716.
The house arrest measure would be for five days and compliance is entrusted to the director of the National Police or to the superior who attends the police functions in the Palacio de Nariño, head of government.
In the same way, the president of Colombia imposes a fine of 15 minimum wages unless compliance with the order considered unfulfilled is previously proven.

In November 2020, the Supreme Court of Colombia, which declared the Los Nevados National Natural Park as a subject of rights, for which it ordered the president of that country to create a Special Command of the Public Force to accompany the work of conservation, management and protection. of the reserve.
Said order had a term of one year; however, President Duque failed to comply with the ruling and the situation of the nature reserve remains delicate, according to the Superior Court of Ibagué.
The Los Nevados National Natural Park is located in the Central Mountain Range on the Andean region of the Colombian Andes. Its surface is part of the departments of Tolima, Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío, being distributed among the municipalities of Manizales, Villamaría, Santa Rosa De Cabal, Pereira, Salento, Villahermosa, Anzoáteui, Santa Isabel, Murillo, Ibagué and Casabianca.
