According to Runt figures and Andemos calculations, 22,435 new vehicles were registered in the country in May, 52.5% more than in the same period of the previous year when 14,716 units were registered. The strong inter-monthly growth registered is due to the impact suffered by the market last year due to the national strike.
In the accumulated of the first five months of the year, the sector registered 100,526 new registrations, a growth of 10.8% vs. 2021 with a projection of 265 thousand units for the full year.
By segments, the one with the highest registrations was utility vehicles with 9,264 (63.6%), followed by cars with 8,993 (60.1%) and Commercial cargo <10.5T with 2,217 (13.3%).
In the total market, Renault led the total registrations for the month with 4,306 units (35.6%), followed by Chevrolet with 3,277 (25.1%) and third place went to Toyota with 2,477 (126.2%), Mazda in fourth place with 1,914 (53.4%) and Kia in fifth place with 1,854 (151.6%).
