Every May 31, World No Tobacco Day is celebrated across the globe. An event promulgated by the World Health Organization (WHO) and celebrated since 1987, so this 2022 marks its 35th anniversary. It was at that moment that it was decided that every May 31 would become the day on which the WHO, together with the rest of the public actors, would devote all its efforts to promoting awareness against tobacco consumption.

Aldacira de Bradshaw, a mental health specialist nurse and member of the National Commission for Tobacco Control, explained that some time ago there was a prevalence of tobacco users between 34 and 36% and to date it has decreased by 4.5% consumers.

He stressed that tobacco consumption not only causes damage to our body but also to the environment.
