The president of the Medical College (Colmed), patrick meza, pointed to the Ministry of Health (Minsal) for the communication of risk in the framework of an increase in cases of Covid-19. In this regard, he urged them to convey that “we are in the midst of a pandemic.”
“The health authority must transmit a clear and powerful message to the effect that we are in the midst of a pandemic, and this is demonstrated by the considerable increase in cases in recent days,” Meza said in conversation with The Mercury.

“It is estimated that we should reach no less than 10,000 new cases of Covid-19 per day,” emphasized the Colmed helmsman.
In a report on Sunday, the Minsal reported that there were 7,370 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, which represented a variation of 29% and 93% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively.
Other factors and self-care
Meza also pointed out that “we are not certain that we are going to have the same capacity to respond to the pandemic”
Along these lines, he stated that “we had not had seasonal viruses in previous years (2020 and 2021) (…) Now that we have returned to normal, if we reduce the use of masks outdoors, these viruses compete with those others”.
“If there are many patients with Covid-19 who require hospitalization, and the new factors are added to them, the system can collapse,” he commented.
In this regard, he stressed self-care measures. “The call must be clear to the use of a permanent mask, even more so in places with risk of contagion,” she said.
“If I have symptoms, even mild ones, suggestive of a cold or I am in close contact, I spontaneously isolate myself or do diagnostic tests early, to reduce the chain of transmission of the virus; that is the fundamental thing,” he pointed.
