The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) reported yesterday that seized 48 packages with 50.27 kilos of cocaine inside, in an operation in the Caucedo Multimodal Port and that would have Puerto Rico as its destination.
The anti-drug entity indicated in a communication that while military personnel and canine units stationed in that terminal, they verified several cargoes for export and detected two boxes with foreign substances in the back of a container, which when opened found the substance.
“DNCD agents, military personnel and canine units, stationed at the terminal, were carrying out verification tasks on various loads for export, when they detected two boxes with foreign substances in the back of a container,” says a press release. of the DNCD.
The document indicates that the packages were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), which determined they contained cocaine, weighing 50.27 kilograms.

The Public Ministry and the DNCD interview people and deepen investigations into the case.
“At the moment the Public Ministry and the DNCD have interviewed several people, while they deepen the investigations in relation to the present case,” the note indicates.
In recent months, operations against the drug trafficking and related crimes have doubled, resulting in the seizure of large shipments of drugs, as well as the arrest of dozens of people linked to drug trafficking networks National and international.
Due to the discovery of the substance, which was part of a load of compressed cardboard, the DNCD has interviewed several people, while deepening the investigations, according to the statement.
It establishes that the operation had the support of the Military Security of the Caucedo Multimodal Port and State Intelligence agencies, under the coordination of the Public Ministry.
