The Governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, celebrated the 212th anniversary of the “beginning of a revolutionary process” and stated that “from there we can obtain inspiration and strength for the reconstruction of the province of Buenos Aires”, within the framework of the commemoration of the May Revolution.
“Like every May 25, we are commemorating what was the beginning of a revolutionary process in which our patriots followed their ideals and gave rise to the birth of the Homeland,” Kicillof explained and added that “from there we can obtain the inspiration and strength necessary to carry out the reconstruction of the province of Buenos Aires after six very difficult years.”
The president participated this Wednesday afternoon together with the president of the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires (ICPBA), Florencia Saintout, of the act of reopening of the Astor Piazzolla Hall of the Provincial Center of the Arts Teatro Argentino de La Plata, where a National Concert organized by the ICPBA was held.
The concert was led by the composer Horacio “Chango” Spasiuk and the Academic Camerataa body of instrumentalists dependent on the Argentine Theater, as part of the agenda of activities designed by the Cultural Institute of the Province to celebrate the Week of May and at the same time honor Atahualpa Yupanqui, 30 years after his death.
In this framework, the president of the Cultural Institute, Florence Saintout, He expressed “the joy of celebrating this May 25 with the reopening of the Astor Piazzolla Hall, thanks to the political decision of a Government that believes that access to culture is a right of the people of Buenos Aires”.
“This day is marked by the revolutionary passion of our patriots, who decided to walk a path that would allow us to build a homeland and a horizon of dignity”said.
In this frame, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Julio Alakmade the deed delivery which regularizes the ownership situation of the complex in the space it has occupied since 1937, where the Province completed last April the first stage of a work plan that will allow the refurbishment and enhancement of the historic building.
In that sense, the governor pointed out that “just as we have reached almost 100 thousand people from Buenos Aires who did not have their deeds, Today the time has come to regularize the ownership situation of the Argentine Theater after 85 years of waiting”.
“As a result of laziness, we found an abandoned building that, if it did not succumb, was thanks to the efforts of its workers,” said Kicillof, noting that in this context “we started working on its repair and today we can reopen this room” .
“The Argentine Theater is our Provincial Center for the Arts, a recovered space with popular shows that are available to all the people of the province of Buenos Aires”, concluded.
Also present were the Undersecretary for Cultural Policies, Victoria Onetto; the head of the General and Artistic Directorate of the Provincial Center of the Argentine Theater Arts, Ernesto Bauer; the Government Notary General, Paula Sidoti; members of the provincial cabinet, Buenos Aires mayors, and provincial and municipal legislators.
