The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá and a sector of taxi drivers agreed on several security measures to counteract the insecurity that has been affecting them by criminal groups.
Ricardo Ruge, an official from the Government Secretary, explained that one of the issues agreed upon with this public transport sector union was that of hold a monthly follow-up meeting for all commitments and progress made between the parties.
“ We are going to make available a captain from the Metropolitan Police, to carry out special plans in the critical points of insecurity, which will be delivered to the authorities by the leaders of the taxi drivers,” said the official.

Equally it was agreed to make care networks and security fronts available and the required technological elements will be reviewed and verify if they can be acquired with the security resources that exist channels of communication and implementation of licenses”, he added.
Also a panic button will be implemented and this Wednesday there will be a preparatory meeting for this protocol and the thematic table with the mobility secretariat, to review different points and commitments that exist.
“We will perform a permanent accompaniment to taxi drivers, through the Secretary of Government, the Traffic and Transportation Police, the District Secretary of Mobility and the District Secretary of Security,” he said.

To its turn, taxi drivers highlighted the support they have received from the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, to provide security to this transport guild.
“The important thing about these agreements is to monitor them, so some tables are going to be established where they are going to continue contributing so that these are fulfilled,” said one of the representatives of the taxi drivers.
