The Ministry of Health created a situation room to monitor the monkeypox scenario – virus monkeypox – in Brazil. The measure, announced by the ministry on Monday night (23), aims to develop an action plan for the tracking of suspected cases and the definition of clinical and laboratory diagnosis for the disease.
“So far, there is no notification of suspected cases of the disease in the country. The folder sent to the states a risk statement about the pathology, with guidelines for health professionals and information available so far about the disease”, informed the Ministry of Health. Health, in note.

The surveillance of diseases with potential for public health emergencies is monitored by the Center for Strategic Information on Health Surveillance (Cievs Nacional), which operates on a permanent basis, detecting information 24 hours a day.
Monkeypox is a viral disease endemic on the African continent, with moderate transmissibility between humans.

The scientific surveillance measure with consultation of experts is necessary, according to the agency, in view of cases of infection registered in countries such as Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, in May this year.
