Madrid Spain.- The United States government once again included Cuba in its annual list of countries that do not fully cooperate in its fight against terrorism.
The US Federal Register published a note this Friday to report that the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, determined that Cuba, along with Venezuela, Iran, North Korea and Syria, was on that list.
“Pursuant to section 40A of the Arms Export Control Act…as amended, I hereby determine and certify to Congress that the following countries are not fully cooperating with United States counterterrorism efforts: Iran, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK, or North Korea), Syria, Venezuela, and Cuba. This determination and certification will be transmitted to Congress and published in the Federal Register,” the document stated.
This Thursday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, who had already been notified, came forward and stated through Twitter: “Lacking pretexts for the effort to exclude countries of the region from the hemispheric Summit in Los Angeles, the United States once again resorts to slander by pointing out that Cuba does not cooperate enough in the fight against terrorism. One more lie”.

The evaluation of USA It is almost identical to one issued by the Government of Joe Biden last year.
On that occasion, the US highlighted that Cuba is home to several US fugitives wanted by justice or convicted on charges of political violence.
Each year, the Secretary of State presents the list of countries that he considers have repeatedly supported acts of international terrorism as stipulated in three laws: section j) of article 6 of the Export Administration Law, article 40 of the Arms Export Control Act and Section 620A of the Foreign Assistance Act.
