The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship highlighted this Thursday that Argentine exports in April reached “the highest value historical record for this month”, adding a total of US$ 8,327 million.
In relation to the quantities exported, the national portfolio highlighted that for the period January-April, external shipments obtained “the second largest record in historysecond only to the same period in 2008″.
“Argentine exports totaled US$8,327 million in April, with a year-on-year growth of 35.6%, which was driven by an increase of 23.7% in prices and 9.6% in quantities,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
In that period, exports grew 28.5% compared to the first quarter of last year and exceeded the previous record of January-April 2012 by 14%.
Meanwhile, April imports totaled US$ 6,883 million, with a year-on-year growth of 47.3%, achieving “the highest value for a month of April” and a new historical maximum for a first quarter, after totaling US $24,852 million.
Regarding the trade balance, the Foreign Ministry stressed that “April was a surplus of US$ 1,444 millionthe highest value of the last six months and 16 consecutive months of positive result are accumulated”.

Last month, all major items grew in their shipments, highlighting manufactures of industrial origin, with an increase of 64.3% in value and almost 30% in quantities.
There was also a strong increase in fuel and energy exports, of 192.7%, driven both by larger quantities (78.5%) and by their prices (63.5%).
The imports that grew the most in April were fuels and lubricants and capital goods.
The main export markets between January and April were Brazil (12.9%), United Statess (7.6%), Chili (6.2%), China (5.9%) and India (5.0%).
In turn, the main countries of origin of imports during the first four months of 2022 were China (22.8%), Brazil (19.1%), the United States (9.6%), Germany (3.7 %), and Paraguay (2.8%).
